welcome

Scale Replicas evolves! This site was initially a showcase for scale car models built by master modeler David Da Costa. But now, his interests have expanded to include scale and aerobatic remote control (RC) helicopters and so this web site has been updated.

David's guiding philosophy is precision and attention to all details essential to replicate not only the beauty of the engineering but also to capture something more elusive: the essence of the original.

New Website Logo

With the new emphasis of the website on radio controlled helicopters I decided that the website logo is no longer reflective of the content.

New Website Section Announced

Along with the change in logo, I have also added a major new section to the site called "My Hangar" on the main menu. This section contains pictures of all my helicopters.

Hirobo Super Cobra status

The Super Cobra is nearing completion and is about ready for its first test flight!

Some of the onboard electronics still need to be set up along with the blade pitch settings.

Thunder Tiger Raptor 90SE has been sold.

After a radio lockout with my JR X9303 2.4Ghz radio caused a complete loss of control and a crash, I was forced to undertake a major re-build of my Raptor 90SE.

As you can see from the photo below (it's also in my hangar), the Raptor is now as good as new. It has now been sold it to make room for my new ASI Mongoose (see below).

Airstar International (ASI) Mongoose added to hanger

The Mongoose is the largest helicopter in the hangar, measuring 84" (213cm) from tail to blade tip. It is powered by a 26cc 3hp petrol (gas) engine rather than a nitro engine or electric motor.

Align Trex 600 Carbon Fiber XL is up for sale

I have decided to sell my Align Trex 600 CF XL rather than leaving it parked in the hangar and not flying.

It is the silver carbon fiber model and includes the XL brushless motor, electronic speed controller and external BEC. It does not include any servos or receiver or main blades. It does include the factory painted fiberglass canopy as well as upgraded Align metal main shaft bearing blocks. More pictures are in the hangar. Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing this helicopter.
